The Iris has been hanfcrafted in the UK from sustainably sourced timber by people with autism and learning disabilities.
The RHS Iris Nest Box is suitable for: Large bird such as Great Spotted Woodpeckers and includes a 45mm entrance hole, allowing larger wild birds to nest.
The product is made from Larch, a durable redwood sourced from sustainably managed British forests, and will provide many years of use.
All made in Stoke-on-Trent by Wildlife and Birdcare Nature Recovery Project (CIC) a not for profit organisation that not only help to save the crisis of nature, but are also a licensed training provider for SEN colleges to support young people with autism or additional needs leaving college to secure jobs their future.
To properly maintain a nest box:
- Position it in a shaded area, avoiding direct sunlight.
- Mount the box at least 3 meters above ground.
- Clean the interior annually between September and January when unoccupied. The back panel can be detached for easy access during cleaning. Use only boiling water to sanitise the nest box.
